The XDP X220 Main Stud Kit XD3007MS is essential for setting up your 2001-2005 GM 6.6L Duramax LB7/LLY for competition or street use. OEM main bolts typically struggle to handle the pressure in high-horsepower engines.

Constructed using an 8740 Chromoly with an added proprietary element ensures these studs are more durable and will not stretch like the factory bolts. The threads are rolled after heat-treating to deliver optimum fatigue strength. These studs are rated at 210,000-230,000 psi yield strength and 220,000-236,000 psi tensile strength to ensure a strong hold under higher combustion pressures.

In addition to the increased strength, replacing the main bolts with studs also allows you to obtain a more precise torque reading. A bolt gets twisted as it is tightened, so it's reacting to two different forces at the same time.

With a stud the force gets applied to the vertical axis, resulting in a more even clamping force. These are a must have for high-performance applications and are reusable, unlike the OEM Torque-To-Yield (TTY) bolts which must be replaced after each use.

Furthermore, they can help offer easier engine assembly and proper alignment of the main bearing caps every time. Included in this kit are 12-point nuts, washers, installation instructions. Assembly lubricant sold separately.

Features:

  • Includes 12-Point Nuts & Washers
  • Yield Strength: 210,000-230,000 PSI
  • Tensile Strength: 220,000-236,000 PSI
  • Threads Rolled After Heat Treatment
  • Reusable Studs, Unlike TTY OEM Bolts
  • 10mm Studs Test Out At Max Load Of Over 120KN
  • 8740 Chromoly Construction With Added Proprietary Element

Tech Tips:
XDP Thread Cleaning Chasers (Sold Separately):
Both the XD40126TC and XD40125T are a great add-on that will be critical during installation. Thread Cleaning Chasers are an excellent tool to have on-hand to ensure you have properly cleaned the threads in your engine block before the installation of any fasteners. Clean threads provide accurate torque readings and will help give you peace of mind during your engine build or head gasket repair.

XDP X-TRA Slick Engine & Fastener Assembly Lubricant (Sold Separately):
The use of XD541 is highly recommended during engine assembly. Apply XDP X-TRA Slick Lubricant to head studs, head bolts, main studs, main bolts, connecting rod bolts, and any other fasteners used during engine assembly.

Using a proper assembly lubricant during fastener installation reduces friction and torque pre-load scatter in the torquing sequence, while also helping to prevent thread galling and seizing.

Fitment

  • Will this fit my truck?

The Fits section at the top of the page lists the manufacturer's applications for this exact part. If your year, make and model is not there, or you are not sure, text us a photo of what you are replacing with your year and engine and we will confirm it before you order.

  • What if I order the wrong part?

Shipping

  • When will it ship?

In-stock parts usually ship within 1 to 2 business days from warehouses across the USA. The stock line under the options tells you the status of the part you are looking at. Large items ship LTL freight and we call to schedule delivery.

  • Why did I only get part of my order?

We ship from multiple warehouses, so an order with several items can arrive in more than one box. Tracking for each shipment is emailed as it goes out. Full details in the shipping policy.

  • What is the return policy?

30 days from delivery, in new and uninstalled condition, with a restocking fee. Everything is spelled out in the Returns & Refund Policy.

Paying

  • Can I pay over time?

Yes. Shop Pay installments are offered at checkout on qualifying orders, and the monthly estimate shows right under the price.

  • What is a core deposit?

Some remanufactured parts, like injectors and turbos, carry a refundable core deposit. It is shown on the product page when it applies and refunded when your old part comes back to us.
