The factory transmission cooler on the 2017-2019 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke is a liquid-to-liquid design - transmission fluid is cooled by engine coolant, which means fluid temperatures can only ever get as low as the coolant they run against. Under the sustained load of towing and hauling in hot weather, that ceiling disappears fast, and heat is what wears a transmission out.
